Real Grooves and Clash present Bunka Vibe feat. Claude VonStroke & Pan-Pot
=Claude VonStroke=
Raised in the suburbs Detroit, Claude VonStroke a.k.a Barclay Crenshaw fell in love with the beat by listening to Electrifying Mojo's Midnight Funk Association on local radio. At age 16, Barclay visited Juan Atkins, tried unsuccessfully to convince Atkins to hire them as sound engineer and music producer. After University in New York and in Hollywood working on big budget films, Barclay moved back to Detroit and re-discovered his passion for electronic music, only to re-locate to San Francisco a year later and decided to merge his passion for music and film by releasing 'Intellect', a self-directed and produced DVD package, covering the worldwide electronic music scene and including interviews with over 35 top producers/DJs such as Derrick May, Swayzak, Derrick Carter, Dubfire, and Theo Parrish. The main goal of the 'Intellect' project was to make an informative DVD that could help DJs advance their careers in electronic music. The result was Crenshaw taking lessons from his own DVD by starting a record label called 'dirtybird' and a production career under the name Claude VonStroke.
Claude VonStroke's very first record 'Deep Throat', a major hit of 2005, was followed up by 'Who’s Afraid of Detroit?', another international hit called the "best track of 2006" by Richie Hawtin. Soon after that he released his full-length debut album, 'Beware of the Bird' and has since recorded over 25 remixes for The Rapture to Kevin Saunderson. Claude has also headlined almost every major club & festival in the world from Fabric to Panorama Bar to D'Edge. In 2009 he mixed Fabric 46 for the famed series then released his 2nd album 'Bird Brain' which he is currently touring the world to support.

=Pan-Pot=
Pan-Pot are a brilliant multi-dimensional Berlin duo currently twisting house and techno fans into rapturous fits. In just a few short years, Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix have developed a dominate presence amongst the top tier of electronic dance music, with an ascension paralleling the rise of their native label, mobilee records.
Their debut artist album 'Pan-O-Rama' provided a stunning 360 degree tour of techno at its most twisted, balancing somber atmospherics with an impeccable lightness of touch: an affirmation of the possibility of a wider sonic spectrum that suggested a move towards stripped-down techno while simultaneously hinting towards a newly developed sense of melody. When not in the studio, their dance floor oriented DJ sets see them playing back to back at clubs and festivals such as Fabric, Panorama Bar, Paradiso, Showcase and Awakenings just to name but a few, and are unconstrained by boundaries as they effortlessly transition between techno, house and everything in between, demonstrating an immaculate understanding of the audience's wants and needs. Their colossal, haunting techno tracks overflowing with noise and static, throbbing bass lines, and epic builds that manage to be both tasteful and restrained - is only part of what differentiates Pan-Pot from the other techno producers currently flooding the airwaves. Pan-Pot's music is ultimately about moving bodies, not knobs, all the while giving way to an unprecedented degree of dynamism on dance floors around the world.

With a musical presence and maturity beyond their experience, Audiojack are arguably one of the most talented and exciting electronic music acts to develop in recent years.
Signed to Ralph Lawson's 20:20 Vision Recordings for their original productions and with remixes and releases under their belt for labels such as Get Physical, Renaissance & Cr2, Audiojack have proved a unique ability to produce credible underground music whilst appealing to a wide enough audience to surpass the sales and airplay of many of their peers. Their music has gathered an enviable and varied list of international DJs who support their sound including Groove Armada, Sasha, Carl Cox, Deep Dish, Timo Maas, Luciano, Sven Väth, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Danny Tenaglia to name a few.
Their first original production 'Robot' was released on Leftroom and dominated leading DJs sets on release, selling over ten thousand vinyl and digital copies. Robot was also nominated for 'Best British Single of 2006' in DJ Mag’s Best of British Awards. Their debut album 'Radio' was applaused as "Anyone with appreciation for House or Techno in any of their varied forms will dig this. Impressive. (Clash Magazine) "Twelve tracks of top notch trademark techno." (Mixmag) "Audiojack represent all that’s great about 2020Vision, house music and the UK dance floors right now." (IDJ Magazine) Accolades from their live DJ performances include a nomination for 'Best Live Performance of 2008' at the 'Lunas del Auditorio' awards in Mexico, alongside Hot Chip, Metronomy and Deep Dish and 'Best International DJ Performance' at the ‘Danish Deejay Awards' lining up alongside Louie Vega and Luciano.
With their follow up album currently a work in progress, ongoing remixes and a lot more international touring set for the future, Audiojack continue to build their reputation as one of the most consistent and successful electronic music acts breaking ranks today.

It was only a matter of time. Two genre-defining artists together - pop music and dance music's most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. HELL's 'U Can Dance' is an interpretation of an unreleased Bryan Ferry song, but it's one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
'U Can Dance' eclipses HELL's brilliant recent effort 'The DJ' feat. P. Diddy. In a music scene screaming out for something different, Bryan Ferry's vocals do the trick here. Yes, the vocals ensure it's not the most underground sounding track you're likely to hear this year, but it is catchy and brilliantly produced. Ferry's 'You can Dance' vocals are used to maximum effect, injecting an epic sound to proceedings and it gets a big thumbs up.
The remixes are served up from an impressive list of contributors - but then a man who's worked with Diddy and Ferry tends to command the best. Detroit legend Carl Craig is first up, and he offers not one, but two remixes. The first is a sultry, sexy synth heavy track which rids the original of much of the vocal, with 'You can dance' only interjecting at the pivotal moments. His second attempt is pure brilliance and typical Craig. This time, he's almost completely rearranged the track structure, transforming it in to an acid house peak time track whilst reintroducing the vocal. A sure contender Craig's best remix since Junior Boys minimal defining 'Like a Child'. Tim Goldsworthy's mix is pure 80's; Kraftwerk-esque bleeps introduce us to yet another impressive reworking. And London electro-rockers Simian Mobile Disco complete the package. Typically, it's a high octane, electro/techno fueled affair. Trippy as hell (no pun intended) with a grating bass line and scary fx. This is a fantastic package and considering it features 4 fantastic remixes on top of the 'Teufelswerk' and radio edit, means it's up there with the best releases heard in a long time.
'U Can Dance' by Hell featuring Bryan Ferry will be released on February 8th, 2010. Check out the video featuring Ferry & Hell here!

Kris Menace has risen to become one of the most in demand remixers with his work for the likes of Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, LCD Soundsystem, Royksopp, Underworld, Air, The Presets, Moby, Roisin Murphy, Tracey Thorn and others. Menace's debut single, 'Discopolis', released on Alan Braxe's Vulture Music in 2005, was one of the biggest selling house tracks of the year and soon became an Ibiza anthem. 'Discopolis' was later picked up by Defected Records and re-released with various remixes and a video directed by Seb Janiak. The future is looking even better for Kris! His recent track 'Scaler' has had a huge reaction with everyone from Soulwax, Erol and A-Trak through to Felix Da Housecat and Pete Tong championing it and he is currently recording three album projects: The first being a collaboration with KoweSix from Moonbootica under the alias ‘Black Van’ (the debut single will be released on DFA); his second is called “Love on Laserdisc” (debut single out now) and the first Kris Menace album ‘proper’ will follow mid 2010.
Kris is also featured in Work It Baby's 10th Anniversary Label Compilation - Over the last 10 Years the label has built up a strong reputation after nurturing artists like Fred Falke, Patrick Alavi, Lifelike, Charlie Fanclub, Serge Santiago's Trilogyyy and Jaunt. Martijn Deijkers' particular strand of bass defies genres or adjectives - to his fans and admirers, it's known simply as 'Martyn Music.' With a sound that became a cornerstone for dubstep in 2009, and a debut album ('Great Lengths') that became one of the most stylistically fierce long players the scene has produced to date, Martyn pushes a rebellious, out-of-the-box mentality into his every artistic venture. Commanding dancefloors with a strong sense of timing and attitude, his music revels in its relative simplicity - synth lines lounging atop swung drum patterns, all in turn massaged by warm low frequencies - a trait he's reinforced with fabric 50, his first mix CD to date.
With this Martyn intertwines the essential elements of what makes his own style so pristine and easily recognisable, fusing dancefloor ready percussion with that element of raw soul - whether it's vocal led or simply inferred with emotive chords – and synthesizers that harbour those distinct frequencies that positively shimmer. Anyone who has witnessed Martyn meticulously construct one of his DJ sets over the tail end of 2009 can testify to the pitch perfect, unfathomably smooth beat and vibe matching. Whilst the mix is loaded with welcome surprises like Hudson Mohawke's 'Joy Fantastic' and Levon Vincent's 'Air Raid' - tracks that might not work on every dancefloor - it's an honest and healthy glimpse into the Dutchman’s current DJ perspective.
"I did the whole mix CD live just because I thought that was more honest than doing an Ableton DJ mix. It is how I would play live - not everything on the CD is perfect, but it's not meant to be. That goes for my DJ sets and for my music as well; there's always little bits and pieces that could have been much better or more streamlined or whatever, but that's the beauty of music to me. I wanted it to be raw and honest."

Alex Smoke
After his first release in 2002 on local Glasgow label 'S.U.D.', Alex was soon snapped up by the legendary Soma, on which he released his seminal first album, 'Incommunicado'. Tracks such as the anthemic 'Chicca Wappa' and his own vocal masterpiece 'Don't See The Point' announced the arrival of an already accomplished newcomer amongst the heavyweights in the scene. Berlin's Vakant immediately recognized this young producer's extraordinary talent and provided a platform for a series of EP releases until the keenly anticipated arrival of album no. 2, 'Paradolia', back on Soma in 2006. The album features 'Prima Materia' where Alex unites for example two early influences in Chicago House and Classical, detonating a symphonic explosion, unlike any before. 2006 also saw Alex join the elite wall of fame of Soma's mix compilation series, "Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi.", following in the footsteps of Ewan Pearson and Luciano. He has quickly become an in-demand remixer too, with remixes for Steve Reich, Depeche Mode, Mylo, Junior Boys, Funk D'Void, Radio 4, Jay Haze and Envoy to mention a few. His dynamic live set has been consistently in demand, leaving almost no country on the world map unvisited, nor unimpressed for that matter.
Feb. 2010 will witness the release of Smoke's third studio album entitled 'Lux' and the development of his live set to include more hardware equipment and thereby expand his boundaries and resonance even further.
Expect the unexpected.
To welcome Alex to the next Real Groove, we are featuring Alex's live from Calgary and RG resident MX's set @G9, where he played with a broken collarbone in a sling. Enjoy!

The dance music scene frequently uses African influenced music and rhythm. Sampling vocals and percussions of African origin often help DJ's to achieve huge success with their tracks. Meanwhile the political situation throughout the world is reaching an ever-growing imbalance from which the poorest are made to suffer. Especially in Africa, children have it very hard. They are growing up in an environment that offers poor resources and are exposed to a life of inhuman circumstances. No education, no medical care and worst of all, not enough to eat.
In order to support these children and to aid their fight against poverty, the charity project 'It Began In Africa' was set up by Juliet Sikora and Tube & Berger. Together with other artists from the dance music scene they want to help raise money for the organization 'The African Children‘s Choir™'.
In cooperation with The African Children's Choir™, 18 artists featuring Timo Maas & Format:B made their own interpretations of the original songs from The African Children's Choir™. All profits made from the sale of this compilation will be donated to the choir and their further projects; i.e. building schemes, the founding of nurseries, and schools to help children get away from a life on the streets. "With this project we sincerely hope to be able to support the children of Africa and empower them so that one day they will be able to help themselves".

'TeaDrops' is a program about deep, atmospheric, and emotional sounds. Expect tech, lounge, chillout, ambient, future jazz. This is something we enjoy listening to, something we enjoy playing for you. This is the sound that has deeply come into our lives and changes them for the better. Why? Because these sounds make us look into ourselves, stop for some time and draw away form every day bustle and routine, make us a bit kinder, a bit better, a bit more sincere. Not everything we play can immediately become understandable to an inexperienced listener, but it will only make you stop and consider the moment. It's a haven for romantics.
So to welcome this program to samurai.fm, we present Matthias Meyer's new podcast here.

SEVENSOL
One half of Leipzig's DJ team Manamana is SEVENSOL aka Alexander Neuschulz. The DJ has been resident at the longest-standing Leipzig club "Distillery" for many years, and runs the Freezone Record store alongside the young Leipzig based record label "KANN". DJing though is what he likes best. Growing up in a dull council estate atmosphere in the mid-90s, he discovered house, techno, new jazz and other varieties of deep electronic music together with his friend and now label and production partner Bender. SEVENSOL’s enthusiasm continued and was soon lived out through regular DJ gigs and his own promotion of club nights. The basis is always house in it's most positive sense. Deep, soulful, yet full of energy, his sets find their way from house to techno and back. Old classics ecstasize with their timelessness and new records stand in the middle of the current sound. Whereas nowadays the rule seems to be "the later the morning the dryer the tracks", SEVENSOL unpacks his truly beautiful records and manages to fill those sleepless post-peaktime hours with truly magical moments.
