Rhythm Incursions: picking up where hip hop stops. This is the radio show that airs the music that took hip hop as a starting point and built on it. From the leftfield work of the Anticon label through to the dubbed-out illbient of the Wordsound label, from DJ Spooky's sonic experimentation to Machine Drum's shattered beats, this is the show filling a musical gap on UK radio.
The show began in January 2004 as Mr Trick sought to expand on the ground already covered to some extent in his Turntable Radio show. With creative partner-in-crime Waxfactor stepping up to co-present, the deal was done. Blending choice beats with spotlights on artists or labels, picks of the fortnight and a 30 minute mix section, the shows covers a fair amount of ground, and aims to bring the finest underground music to the ears of, well, as many people as possible.
The show airs on London's Resonance 104.4FM on Saturday's at 9.30 pm. In May 2004, the show was syndicated to ALL 96.9FM in Manchester, and now airs there on Saturday night / Sunday morning from midnight. Now samurai.fm broadcasts the show globally online, on-demand.
